Maniacs with Knives 2: Unapologetic Horror

Unapologetic Horror
By Shaun Hupp

A Very In-Your-Face Story!

To a regular person, they’re just tools. . .
A chef uses them to prepare a meal.
A surgeon uses them to save lives.
To the maniacs in this story, however. . .
Theirs is a much darker purpose.
For them, the first cut is NOT the deepest. It’s just the beginning. . .

This is Book 2 in the Maniacs with Knives Series. Maniacs with Knives: Book 1 does NOT need to be read to enjoy Book 2, but it helps with little details. The Maniacs in this sequel are brand new.
This story is from Shaun Hupp’s Unapologetic Horror Line. The author is NOT sorry this book contains: Gore, violence, dismemberment, rape, swearing, and a dozen other things you wouldn’t want your grandmother to talk about at her Sunday church group. If you’re a sensitive reader, this book is probably NOT for you.

Content Review

Maniacs With Knives 2 is like a rollercoaster ride through a horror fun house!

Read the Author’s Note to the Reader.  Read it.  It is not only hilariously blunt to the point of being obnoxious, it is also a very serious and important warning about the content of the story to follow.

“Unapologetic Horror.”

Now, you might ask, what is “Unapologetic Horror?”
Well, it is Extreme Horror bordering on splatterpunk that is written by Shaun Hupp.  Hupp leaves no horrific and offensive stone unturned in Maniacs With Knives 2.  And he makes no apologies for it.  Nor should he.  It’s horror and it has a warning.  If extreme horror is not your thing, don’t go there.
If it is your thing, then this is a fun read so let’s discuss it.

Shaun Hupp has created a novel that bulldozes through your senses with almost continuous action broken up only by suspense-building characterization and psychological man-handling. But make no mistake, nothing therein is gratuitous.  Not the violence.  Not the sex.  Not the gore.  Every graphic detail is significant to this mind-breaking, amazing and cohesive story.  The story itself is pure extreme horror genius, not only because nothing is gratuitous, but also because it incorporates psychological horror and excellent fully fleshed out characters.

Now, that being said, I would like to note that while some graphic elements may seem gratuitous at the time you read them, when taken as a whole as the story progresses and concludes you see that they aren’t gratuitous at all.  So, no skipping.  Everything is important to the final impact of the story.

In Maniacs with Knives 2, Hupp takes separate stories of maniacal horror and brilliantly brings them together in a head-on collision of blood, gore, and insanity. The pace is exhausting, the sequences are intense, and the characters are compelling. (eg: I found myself compelled to utter “what a bitch” out loud once while reading about a particular character) Word of warning, the epilogue blew my mind, so hold on to your hat!

About the Author: Shaun Hupp

Shaun Hupp is a horror author that specializes in short stories that will tug at your heartstrings one moment and the next, shake you to your very core, sending you on an emotional rollercoaster into the darkest corners of your imagination. He loves to make his readers feel safe before jamming a rusty knife into their ribcage. Surprisingly enough, people seem to like it.

Between his wife, three children, dog, and all the characters created in his head, he’s in a losing battle for his sanity and doesn’t mind one bit. Growing up, Shaun was a product of watching too much Twilight Zone, Monsters, and Tales from the Darkside while reading Alvin Schwartz’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps Series over and over again, sometimes back-to-back. Later in life, he moved on to mainstream horror authors such as Richard Matheson, Stephen King, and Dean Koontz. Everything changed when he found Richard Laymon. Now, as his favorite author, Shaun asks himself whenever he writes WWRLD.
