Fear the Dinosaur Smile

By Dane Hatchell

Masterfully crafted action/adventure

Synopsis Blurb

Six US Marine time-troopers travel to the Jurassic period on a deadly mission. Pterosaurs cruise the bright blue skies, and Tyrannosaurs rule the land.

Private Matt Moscona fights a war on two time lines. One is a battle against a rare form of cancer his mother suffers from, and the other is against prehistoric beasts from the ancient past. Fate puts him in a position to win on both fronts, but he’ll have to survive a gauntlet of savage dinosaurs all by himself.

Fear the Dinosaur Smile is a 32,000-word military/science fiction/action/adventure novella.

Content Review

Fear the Dinosaur Smile is a masterfully crafted action/adventure tale of hope, loyalty, and prehistoric terrors. Dane Hatchell presents another engrossing story in the Dinosaur collection.  Full of suspense, action, and engaging characters, Fear the Dinosaur Smile delivers multi-level entertainment.  As with his other stories, this one has a very human story amidst the action, where duty and loyalty can be as frightening as the deadly creatures of the Jurassic period.

What struck me most about this one was the characters.  The characters are vivid, entertaining, and believable.  Their interactions are every bit as enjoyable to read as the action sequences.  I laughed out loud, cringed, even did the scream-at-the-movie-screen thing. I felt for them and with them. I truly had fun with these characters.

Also noteworthy is the author’s choice to keep language and gore moderate enough for readers of varying ages and personal constitution without sacrificing entertainment value in any way.

5 Stars for a solid story, exceptional characterization, and creative genius.
