Kennedy brings together some of Horror’s best names with a brand new werewolf book. The tales are dark, the wolves are vicious. Werewolves are first and foremost, monsters, and in this book you will fear their fangs and cower from their claws. It’s time to grab your silver bullets, and get ready for some mayhem.

Review

Werewolves, Book 2 of the Classic Monsters series from KJK Publishing, is an anthology of 8 werewolf stories from some of horror’s most impressive authors. These tales are very different from one another, exploring and depicting a variety of facets and perspectives of the classic legend of the werewolf.

“Elena” by Kevin J Kennedy is a wicked and nasty extreme horror werewolf story that Tarantino himself would be impressed with. Beware of explicit sex, violence, characters, and a great story.

“Last Dance” by Tom Deady is a more serious tale dealing with the struggles of adolescence, bullying, and knowing oneself; it’s an intense and impactful story that is among my favorites herein.

“Inherent” by Candace Nola is a vivid and flowing story of nightmares and family secrets and blood.

“Beware the Moon,” a High Moor Story from Graeme Reynolds, is a riveting and suspenseful tale of terror about a woman trapped on a mountain in Italy and being stalked by a mysterious howling creature.

“Rug” by Graham Masterson is a dark and disturbing story of the German legend of the Wolfshaut, told only as Masterson can.

“Harry’s Inevitable Extinction” by Glenn Rolfe is a thriller about a private detective hired to investigate a gruesome murder and the horrors he uncovers.

“Wetware” by Tim Curran is a grisly and relentless story of violence and death in the wake of a military project gone bad; this is an excellent werewolf take on a fun horror trope.

“Almost Never” by the legendary Edward Lee himself is an evocative and compelling tale of human monsters and a sweet little girl, told in a pseudo fairytale meter and style; but in true Ed Lee fashion, the story takes a horrifying twist.

I really enjoyed this anthology. Werewolves is a highly recommended must-read for not only werewolf aficionados but all horror fans who love dark suspense and terror.
